Schematic Design - I was heavily involved in exterior concept design & design of ‘scrim’.
Design Developments & Contract Documents - Interior Architect. Worked closely with the Interior Designer & coordinated with engineering team. Created ceiling & terrazzo design.
Post Contract Documents - After a food retailer was brought on, I worked with tenant & Kitchen Consultant to design Cafe space.

Renovation of the original 1937 Classroom & Office Building. Goals included the addition of more classrooms and offices within the existing building, including the addition of lab spaces. Full mechanical upgrade. Parameters include the limitations of an existing structure, university standards that every office has a window, & users request for offices & classroom space to be separated.

Responsible for drawing production & coordination schematic design through contact documents.

DESCRIPTION: A local school district passed a bond to provide schools with funds to promote innovation in education. Each school had a unique approach to how they thought space could inspire and foster innovation in their students. Common threads include spaces for hands on learning, connection to technology, presentation areas, & cozy retreats for heads down learning.

DESIGN CONCEPT: The site is located at a the base of the foothills. The design concept was driven by the idea of the three creeks that feed into the nearby reservoir. As a design language, the team focused on the visual translation of collect and disperse, much like the watershed process through the mountains.
This project was a truly interdisciplinary effort with the architecture, interiors, & landscape team designing together & circling back to the shared concept of the three creeks: collection & dispersion, & blurring the lines between interior & exterior. Breakout spaces opened directly onto outdoor classrooms with flooring patterns continuing out the the paved patios. Students are drawn through the school & given visual way-finding cues through wood accented ceilings & wall graphics.
The community embraced the three creeks concept so much that they voted to name the school after it.
2015 ROLE: Pre-interview master planning, diagrams, & graphics. Worked directly with project designer during programming phase through construction documents. Co-designed with interior design team throughout building & championed interior design of the Learning Commons and ceiling design. Project Architect through Contract Administration.
Worked with graphic designer & school principal in creation of wall graphics.

This project combine two of the school district’s programs Administrative Offices and and Early Childhood Education Center (ECE).
The exterior façade was designed to compliment the historic middle school which sits adjacent to the site.
Color throughout the interior of the ECE to aid in wayfinding. Each classroom having an assigned color.
Custom entry graphic was designed in collaboration with Angela Schmidt, Graphic Designer.
Key design challenges include keeping the program of the ECE & office spaces separate & secure from one another, working within the context of an existing academic complex, & honoring the historic nature of the middle school adjacent to the site.

DESIGN CONCEPT: Town Center
The idea behind the parti of this school is that it would function like a miniture town. Communal areas were modeled after a town square with views in & out of the town square. Classroom wings were designed to mirror neighborhoods, each having a breakout space that mimicked a shared front yard to your home classroom.
